“ANYONE CAN COOK BUT ONLY THE FEARLESS CAN BE GREAT.”

Do you know your tamarind from your turmeric? Your black-eyed beans from your mung beans? Your ambarella from your guava?

This mission is for fearless cooks! It is your opportunity to go head-to-head with a team of bold chefs and battle it out to impress our Hive judges. Are you ready for some tough competition – and pretty delicious food?

Your challenge?
Four days
Four countries
Eight projects
Hundreds of ingredients
… And two judges!

Starting as a Commis Chef, you’ll earn your stripes over the course of the week in four different kitchens: Japan, Ethiopia, Spain and Lebanon. Will you make it to Head Chef?

There will be plenty of suspense, drama, fun and excitement as the teams compete in fierce daily heats all in the outdoors! You’ll need to prep and cook as fast as you can, you’ll have to invent recipes and create new dishes, you’ll learn to grow spices and herbs and get to go shopping for the best ingredients. Will the judges be impressed?

The competition will conclude with an exciting Supper Club in the Great Outdoors! Laid out for parents by the children, it will be an opportunity for them to showcase the recipes they learnt and the dishes they created.

RECOMMENDED AGE RANGE
8 - 11 (Years 4 - 6). Because of the nature of this mission and the specific skills and activities involved, it is only suitable for children 8 or older. If you have any question about this or if you are unsure and would like to talk through with us, please free to call or email the team. We'll be very happy to advise.

FACILITATION
Both Lead and Support Facilitators on this type of mission are practising educators with experience of both cooking and growing food with children. Parents always receive a full list of facilitators a week of so before the start of camp. We operate an overall ratio of 1:8 in our camps. All facilitators are DBS and reference checked; all undergo The Hive in-house safeguarding training. Sites include several fully qualified First Aiders.

MISSION DURATION 
Five day mission with the flexibility to book as little as 2 days or as much as 5 days. If you are only booking 2 days, we suggest choosing the beginning of the week to help the children truly experience the developing project. 

DAILY TIMES
The mission runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
Extended care is also available from 8.30am to 6pm - an additional charge applies.

END OF MISSION SHOWCASE
All Hive missions finish with an exhibition, showcase or performance for parents.The format depends on each particular mission. We usually ask parents to arrive between 15 and 30 minutes early to get the most out of the showcases.

PRICES
Prices for this mission start at £63 per day per child. The daily price decreases as more days are booked. We also offer sibling, multi-week and group discounts. Please click here for further information. 

HIVE T-SHIRT
One free Hive T-Shirt is given to each child on this mission. Replacements will be charged for at a rate of £8 per T-shirt.
