Imagine if every window in a skyscraper could capture the sun’s energy and convert it into electricity? And how about a 3D printer that prints food?! And did you know there’s a Russian designer who’s created a bio-robot refrigerator that keeps things cool using a gel-like substance which uses zero energy?
Some of these prototypes will turn into reality. Others will remain in the realm of Sci-Fi. That’s what innovation is about. Already, Microsoft’s AI for Earth programme is developing ways of using artificial intelligence to lower air pollution, clean our oceans, and protect wildlife - sometimes sci-fi has a way of helping us in real life too!
This mission is slightly different from usual Hive missions. It’s about using the power of your imagination, your skills and knowledge to create a Start-Up that could help Planet Earth.
This mission is slightly different from usual Hive missions. It’s about using the power of your imagination, your skills and knowledge to create a Start-Up that could help Planet Earth.
Over 5 days, you will create, develop and start your own Science & Tech business. You’ll have to get your head around capital investment, angels, rapid prototyping, writing a business plan, pitching an idea, branding, leadership… and making money!
The mission will start with an exploration of the problem you’d like to solve. The next step is ideation and prototyping: the process of taking an idea that is in your head and turning it into something that exists in the real world. The final step is strategy: figuring out how to get your idea into the hands of the people who want it and how to create a successful business around it.
The mission will conclude with an opportunity for the teams to pitch their start-ups to an entrepreneur.
