STANDARD PRICES

A lot of development work goes into each bespoke mission at The Hive. But these can only be as good as the people delivering them with children. We take qualifications and training very seriously and enforce the following:

  • The Hive asks for proof of all qualifications, as well as references
  • All facilitators are DBS checked
  • We always have several First Aiders on site
  • Prior to starting work at The Hive, facilitators have to undertake our compulsory in-house training
  • Prior to starting work with us, facilitators are also asked to undergo an online children's safeguarding course

Because of the level of specialised skill involved, we have 3 different price levels.

Story-based missions are the cheapest, starting at £40 per day
Workshop-based missions start at £52 per day
Project-based missions start at £61 per day

Discounts for siblings, multi-week bookings and group bookings are also available. More information below.

All our Lead Facilitators have an interest in and experience of Outdoor Learning. They may also be Forest School trained. The Lead is supported by two experienced facilitators, who may be student teachers, qualified outdoor practitioners or practising actors. Again, this will be different for each mission and based on the skills required. The team is also supported by an assistant, who may be a student with an interest in outdoor learning, teaching or childcare. We accept a maximum of 30 children on these missions.

The Lead is supported by one other experienced outdoor facilitator, who is more likely to be a generalist. From potions to kites, bows, mallets and art, these missions are focused on real making skills and all campers will get to take their creations home. We accept a maximum of 16 children on these missions.

PROJECT-BASED MISSIONS

MAKERS LAB
THE LAIR
NO-MAN'S LAND: SPECIAL FORCES

Project-based missions are led by practising professionals sharing their knowledge and expertise in as real and hands-on a context as possible. They may be designers, artists, engineers, army-trained, etc.  - all with a love of the outdoors. Their role is less about leading a structured workshop and much more about empowering and giving children the freedom and tools they need to create and make themselves in an outdoor setting and with natural resources. These facilitators bring many years of experience with them - some are also involved in the Maker Movement - and a unique opportunity for campers to learn first hand on real-life projects. Because of the hands-on nature of the projects, we accept between 12 and 16 children on these missions.

Booking for these missions may not always be flexible, as they are project-based. The number of days that can be booked is specified during the checkout process. Missions start at 9.30am and finish at 4.30pm. Extended care is available (please see below for more information).

DISCOUNTS

The Hive is keen to keep its missions as inclusive as possible with prices that are as fair as they can be for parents whilst also being fair to our staff. In the past two years, we’ve earned a reputation for being an innovative and stimulating place to work where high standards are valued and skills stretched. This encourages the best facilitators to work for us, which is key to the quality of the experiences we offer the children. This means that we have to be measured in the level of discount we can realistically offer parents.

BOOKING PROCESS

The Hive accepts online bookings, via the 'Book Now' section of the website, as well as email and telephone bookings. Please note that your booking will only be confirmed once we receive your payment. You will then be issued a booking form summarising all your information.

Approximately one week before camp, you will also receive an email from The Hive with a few final reminders, such as what to bring, allergy information, access and timings.

When you book, remember to specify whether you need extended care. Extended care runs from 8.30am to 6pm and can be booked flexibly for just a morning or evening or both for as little as one day or as long as several weeks.
